Could you imagine a dark-skin Indian guy speaking fluently in Mandarin and telling you that “I’m a Chinese”? Have you ever seen a little Chinese girl with fair skin being able to write fluently in Tamil? A Malay woman who is over 50 years old, only reunited with her six Chinese sisters in a remote town, they have similar facial moles and toes profiles. This is a story about transracial and transcultural adoption.

Lavaniya is the tenth child of her low-income Indian adoptive parents. No matter how hard they struggle in life, they work hard to provide her a good living environment. Hiro who lives in the UK, has been plagued by nationality issues for years that caused by improper adoption procedures. He is still hoping to regain his Malaysian citizenship, to ease his elderly Chinese adoptive mother’s concerns. Saraha nd her adopted sister were single-handedly raised by their Malay adoptive mother, who treated them like birth-daughters. She only started to reach out for her biological family after her adoptive mother passed away. Kamala is over 70 years old, she still misses her Indian adoptive mother very much, who had been gone for over forty years. The unconditional love given by her adoptive mother can only be reminisced through the only photo of them.

At the beginning of life, they were devastated by the separation from their birth parents. Blessed by fate, their adoptive parents filled the gap in their lives, showering them with family love once again. Although their appearances and ethnicities differ from their adoptive families, they still have the bond that goes beyond blood ties. This is a documentary about love and acceptance: Love would not differ just because of blood tie differences.
